Streaking For Good

It seems strange that a one mile run would be just as sweet as San Francisco Marathon but there’s something about the one mile run that I’ve been craving from my last streak. I haven’t figured out why but it’s one of the reasons I’m back at it.

My previous run streak lasted 112 days but this time is different. I’m running with a purpose. Our team goal is to raise $10,000 for Feed My Starving Children.

That’s a super big number and yes I’m afraid to fail. I think with every big goal there is a fear of not succeeding. But I’m less afraid of failing than not trying.

$10,000 feeds a village of over 100 people for a year.

Running every day (even if it’s just a mile) feeds my soul.

Want to join the cause? You can support this effort by following Kelly, Matt and me on Twitter. Encourage us, retweet our message and help us spread the word. If you are personally connected to a business, pass along our corporate sponsor page.

And why not start a streak of your own? There’s currently about 40 people starting a run streak. It’s simple, just run at least one continuous mile every day for as many days as you want.

Congrats! And cool. I’ve been a streaker too. Currently at 77 days. (http://www.dailymile.com/people/MRC58#ref=tophd) I started my streak for less philanthropic reasons, but a good one nonetheless — to get my fat ass in shape! Rather than #runstreak, I call it #dietbolical. I won’t consider breaking my run streak until I get to my target weight of 180 lbs. (which I’m thinking of revising as I’ve only got 4 more lbs. to lose, but I see I could stand to lose a few more!). My plan was hatched and described at my blog: http://bitly.com/kITf5o

Great idea!! I didn’t realize I was ‘streaking’!!! Best of luck to you all; I will support as much as I can!

Until now, I’d completely missed the “why you’re streaking” tweets. This a great idea, and I will certainly help to raise awareness as I continue on my streak. Keep up the great work!

Haha! So, Mike…it’s been a month. Did you get all #dietbolical and lose the last 4 pounds? Thanks for commenting and keep streaking!

Thanks, Bryan! I tend to keep things a secret :)

But truly I wanted to get a month or so under my shoes before I went crazy about it. Appreciate your support!

Myrna! Are you run streaking and bike streaking? That would be crazy…but brilliant! :)
